Warm and Safe Homes Campaign

Every home should be a warm and safe place

Every home should be a warm and safe place but for over 4.5 million UK households the cold reality is that their situation is getting much worse.

The cost of living in the UK is soaring to its highest level in a decade

Household energy bills are the biggest driver and have increased by well over £230 since last winter and will soar again early next year

Over the same period, those on the lowest incomes have seen their income plummet by over £1000 per year

How to get involved

Highlight more support is needed for fuel poor households

The support that exists for people struggling with their day-to-day energy costs is welcome but wide gaps in provision are letting people fall through the cracks. The Warm and Safe Homes Campaign will highlight what support is needed to keep more people warm and well this winter and beyond. Please share our news release, coverage and infographics which highlight what can be done to respond to the scale of the challenge. We’re also asking our supporters to write to their Members of Parliament and other elected officials to ask them about what work they are doing to tackle fuel poverty in their local area.

Show the cold reality of living in fuel poverty

There are so many negative impacts resulting from living in a cold home – needless death, physical and mental ill-health, damaged life chances and further strain on our precious health services. These consequences affect us all. We will be sharing case studies and quotes from those living in fuel poverty. Please share your own stories about how fuel poverty affects people using #WarmAndSafeHomes.

Profile the assistance that is available

Like many organisations, National Energy Action offers direct support for those living in fuel poverty. We will be sharing a range of resources which we hope can support people this winter.

We have also translated our advice documents into different languages to ensure more people can access this information. Please share these resources and highlight the huge amount of positive work your own organisations are doing to help people heat their homes.
