Trustee

Karen has over 30 years-experience of operational and managed service delivery across public, private and the third sector including operational policing, local and central government partnership delivery and serving as a local politician over an eight-year, unitary role. Latterly, as a management consultant, Karen has helped clients re-define their business vision and service outcomes using customer insight, market intelligence and effective relationship management. She believes that polite but straight talking gets to the heart of the matter quickly and helps people focus on needs to be done.

Specific to the role as NEA trustee, Karen has advised the Offshore Wind Industry Council on positioning its offer to Government and secure additional funding; worked as the devolved nations representative to UK Government during the Ports Implementation Investment programme in readiness for EU Exit; and with Swansea University and its industry partners in formulating the business case for the Active Building Centre to secure UKRI funding.

Based in Wales, Karen is a child of the valleys who knows the challenges of retrofitting stone terraced homes and is active in charities that support independent living for vulnerable people. For fun she is currently learning Welsh and enjoys swimming, cycling, walking, traveling and dining out.
