A new report released by National Energy Action in partnership with Citizens Advice Newcastle highlights the current context of the energy crisis and its impact upon households across the North East of England and provides a snapshot of fuel poverty in the region.
The report draws upon data from publicly available datasets alongside data and case studies from Citizens Advice local offices. It reveals the extent of national and regional issues associated with the energy crisis, including levels of energy stress in the region, rising levels of energy debt and challenges associated with prepayment meters and mouldy and damp homes. The report concludes with a series of recommendations on the actions required to address the impacts of fuel poverty and rising energy costs upon households. The report is published as part of a broader work programme in the region examining policy and practice responses to fuel poverty in the region, and is supported by the Millfield House Foundation.
