Technical Innovation Fund interim report
Date: 16th Sep 2017
The Technical Innovation Fund has been groundbreaking because it enabled us to get an insight into how many new technologies can help households in
vulnerable situations to reduce their energy bills and improve the comfort of their homes. Whilst there was a strong element of performance monitoring of the products installed under this programme, all of the technologies were deemed market ready and were already in or entering the ‘able to pay’ market. The focus
for us was their suitability as measures to tackle fuel poverty and usability for more vulnerable households.
The programme was not designed purely as a technical research project, as the majority of the funding was for the capital measures installed, but we have learned a great deal about the products and how fuel poor households are able to maximise their potential benefits.
