Increasing Self-Consumption of Solar PV – Long-term PV analysis
Date: 09th Jun 2023
This report looks at the long-term performance of solar PV systems installed on socially rented properties and discusses issues which may cause lower performance. It initially considers factors which affect the electricity generated from solar panels and looks at methods commonly used to estimate annual generation. The components of a solar PV system are described and the most common faults that can develop are discussed. There are case studies from several social landlords and community energy organisations, discussing the size of their solar PV portfolios and how they monitor and maintain the systems. The long-term performance of 75 solar PV systems owned by Chase Community Solar was assessed and factors affecting the performance were discussed.
