National Energy Action responds to Price cap increasing 1 January

In response to the most recent price cap rise, National Energy Action Chief Executive Adam Scorer says,

‘At the dawn of a new year, vulnerable households sadly find themselves in a worryingly familiar situation – energy prices up, debts increasing and less support available to help them. 6.1 million UK households are now trapped in fuel poverty, 1.6 million more households who can’t heat and power their homes since October 2021, when the energy crisis began.

‘The fates of these households over this year and beyond will rest on whether the UK Government can find the resources to provide them with more help to manage unaffordable bills. Without it, the most vulnerable in our society will continue to struggle to afford the necessity of a warm and safe home, their mental health and wellbeing will be affected, and they will sink deeper and deeper into debt.’
