Day 23 Daniel's story

Advent Calendar Day 23: Daniel’s story

Daniel*, his partner and young child were living in a local authority property and were dealing with some difficult health issues. Daniel’s partner was his full-time carer since he was injured in a car accident which left him with a spinal injury, mobility issues and PTSD. He was also being treated for throat cancer and had prescribed medication that needed to be refrigerated and a nebuliser that ran on electricity.

As Daniel’s cancer treatment left him feeling cold all the time, having the heating on was essential. He was becoming increasingly worried about paying for energy with these extra costs and so was referred to National Energy Action for some support.

Our adviser arranged to send Daniel some fuel vouchers and a Winter Warmth Support Pack filled with items to keep him warmer. Because Daniel was medically dependent on electricity, we were able secure him £1,000 credit to his energy account through our Warm Home Prescription Scheme.

Daniel told us: ‘I am especially grateful, and I feel a great relief with being awarded the financial support. I had been worried about keeping my fuel meters running.’

The help we provide is only possible because of the incredible support we receive. Your generosity can change lives and mean more people like Daniel can feel warm, safe and secure in their home this winter and beyond.

Support Operation Warmth and help spread warmth and hope this Christmas.
