Day 21 Jade's story

Advent Calendar Day 21: Jade’s story

Jade* lived in social housing with her two rescue dogs and struggled with long-term mental health issues.

Jade relied on her mum’s support to manage financially but found it difficult to make ends meet and pay the bills. She’d even been rationing her own food just to ensure her dogs were fed and looked after.

For Jade, her dogs provided vital emotional support and helped her out of the house twice a day, no matter how low she was feeling.

To help Jade with her finances, our adviser referred her to our Benefits Entitlement Check Service (BECS), to ensure she was receiving all the financial support she was eligible for.

We were also able to provide her with a food bank voucher and a pet food bank voucher to make sure both Jade and her dogs were looked after.

Jade said to our adviser: ‘I’m really happy that you thought of my animals with the pet food bank voucher. Thank you for referring me to Pet Food Bank UK, you’ve been such a huge help, I can’t thank you enough.’

The help we provide is only possible because of the incredible support we receive. Your generosity can change lives and mean more people like Jade can feel warm, safe and secure in their home this winter and beyond.

Support Operation Warmth and help spread warmth and hope this Christmas.
