Wednesday 27 November 2024 is National Energy Action’s Fuel Poverty Awareness Day (FPAD). Six million households are in fuel poverty, with a growing mountain of debt putting pressure on those least able to afford it.
The energy crisis has been going on for over three years, meaning household budgets have been stretched and many are struggling in cold, unsafe and unhealthy homes. Debt is at record levels with households over £3.7 billion to their supplier. The situation is stark with people either having to accrue debt or live in homes that will negatively impact their physical and mental health.
We need to change this.
Join us this Fuel Poverty Awareness Day and be part of a united voice for change.
How you can support
- Share our social media assets highlighting the realities of fuel poverty. You can download our supporter pack here.
- Write to your elected representative to call for more support for people in fuel poverty this winter using our template.
- Help raise vital funds by taking part in the Nation’s Biggest Housewarming during 25 – 29 November.
- Make a donation to support our services and receive a free keyring.
The price cap announcement for January – March 2025 will be announced near Fuel Poverty Awareness Day. We will update the media pack to reflect the amount of households that will be in fuel poverty on Tuesday 26 November. With increased wholesale prices in the last few months, we aren’t expecting any let-up in the unaffordable cost of energy. There is no end in sight for the most vulnerable households.
Please use the hashtag #FuelPovertyAwarenessDay and include our social media handles, as it makes it easier for us to find and share.
